CNISCO was invited to a meeting with President of The Public Council of Armenia

     On October 31st, 2016, a Transcaucasia Situation Dialogue was held by the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the General Office of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and Shanghai Institutes for International Studies. Former Prime Minister and President of the Public Council of Armenia Manukyan, the Ambassador of Armenia to China Sergey Manassarian, a member of the National Committee of CPPCC and member of China Economic and Social Council Lu Zhongyuan, the Director of the Multilateral Affairs of the Foreign Affairs Bureau of the General Office of CPPCC Xu Ge, etc., attended the meeting. President of Shanghai Institutes for International Studies Chen Dongxiao presided over the proceedings. Director of the Office of China National Institute for SCO International Exchange and Judicial Cooperation (CNISCO) associate professor Chen Xiao and Dr. Ding Yunbao were also invited and delivered speeches.

     President Manukyan introduced the state of Armenia, its current economic situation, security issues and so on. He said that Armenia attaches great importance to the Belt and Road initiative proposed by China. He hopes that China and Armenia can look forward to the future, and further strengthen the  cooperation between the two countries towards security and economy within the SCO framework.

      During the meeting, other experts and President Manukyan took part in a heated discussion on related issues. Shanghai Institutes for International studies associate research fellow Qiang Xiaoyun exchanged his ideas with Armenian parties on issues such as Armenia’s territorial disputes and economic revival, etc. Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences research fellow Li Lifan discussed  Armenia joining the SCO. Shanghai University of Political Science and Law associate professor Chen Xiao briefly introduced CNISCO; set forth its function of serving SCO international law enforcement and security cooperation, discussed with Armenian parties about law enforcement and security cooperation, and warmly invited Armenian security or law enforcement officers to CNISCO to attend workshops and other exchanges.
